WAYS TO STOP THE BREEDING OF MOSQUITOES
Mosquitoes are disease causing organisms that give humans malaria. This sometimes makes the victims lose their lives. Many people have raised concerns about it due to the weight it carries. This article seeks to address at least three ways to stop the breeding of mosquitoes in our communities.
One way to stop the breeding of mosquitoes is by removing choked gutters. When gutters are choked, it breeds mosquitoes. If we always remove choked gutters, there will not be any dirt or rubbish in the gutters. We should rather dispose waste in dustbins rather than disposing waste in gutters to avoid getting ill. Burying of empty cans is also another way to stop the breeding of mosquitoes. When cans and other containers are buried, the spread of mosquitoes is reduced. It also reduces their population and risk of mosquito-borne diseases. The last way is eliminating standing water. Since mosquitoes need water to lay eggs, we have to remove any source like stagnant water to reduce or prevent the spread of diseases.
To conclude, we have to bury empty cans, remove choked gutters and eliminate standing water. This will go a long way not just to stop the breeding of mosquitoes in the community but also to save lives.

ELECTION VIOLENCE AND ITS IMPACT ON CHILDREN
Election violence is a crucial issue that affects not only the present but also the future of our society if not taken care of. The word ‘election violence’ comes from two words, ‘election’ and ‘violence’. Election is the process of voting for a person, people or an event and mostly done for the selection of leaders. Violence is the process of using force to damage or hurt someone. Therefore, election violence is the process of choosing a leader with force that puts one’s life in danger.
To kick-off, election violence is a crucial issue. Elections which represent the cornerstone of democracy should uphold principles of fairness, transparency and engagement. However, when violence becomes part of the election process, it creates severe consequences that affect all aspects of our society particularly our children. Children are among the most vulnerable members in the society. They are easily influenced by the world around them, which means that they practise, capture and perform what they see which will not help them in their societal life. They easily absorb both positive and negative energy. Election violence puts children’s physical safety at risk. In addition to this, election violence is something unacceptable in our society because it puts everyone in the society’s physical safety in danger. It is the sole responsibility of the adults in the society to comport themselves during the election process for the youth and young ones to learn, capture and practise it which can lead to a very good harmonious election every four years in our independent country, Ghana.
In conclusion, the impact of election violence on our children cannot be underestimated. It disturbs their psychological well-being, shapes their perception of the world, damages relationships and hampers their access to education. Therefore it is our leaders’ collective responsibility to protect children from harsh realities of election violence and provide them with an environment that fosters them with values of peace.
